Record calf prices
Calf prices yesterday reached $4BO at the Adding-
ton market, beating last season’s top price by almost $l5O.
Renewed confidence by farmers in the beef industry combined with a shortage of cattle has boosted prices for
all types of cattle during the last few months.
The record price was paid for 10 spring-calved Simmental steers sold by O. J.
Osborne, of Doyleston. Last season his top price was $336 and in 1982 it was $242. Addington market, page 15
