Piped milk likely
PA Wellington A trial system to carry milk by pipelines was warranted, said the Minister of Energy, Mr Birch, yesterday. “Underground milk pipelines which transport milk by compressed air over long distances have been recom-
mended as an alternative to diesel-powered tankers,” said Mr Birch, in an address to the Society of Dairy Science and Technology at Hamilton. He said that even though tanker transportation was becoming more efficient, a trial pipeline system was warranted.
