SCM plan for store
Smiths City Market plans to upgrade its Colombo Street store. Above is an artist’s impression of the finished product. The outlet was the first to be established by the company, which began trading there in 1918 and has since grown to be the largest South Island-based retailer and one of New Zealand’s “big five.” The extensions, part of general refurbishing, will
provide another 750 sq m of selling space, bringing the total to 10,950 sq m. They entail closing the Colombo Street driveway and parking area, will be done in two stages and should be completed toward the end of this year.
