German jobless
“Ordnung,” a West German film made in 1980 about a man who has difficulty in adjusting to society and a new job, will be screened by the Canterbury Film Society next week. Formerly an engineer, he refuses the social status another job would give him. He has a refusal attitude, and that passive resistance is taken as sickness. His wife, who embodies the surrounding world’s norms, takes him to a psychiatric clinic. To this love-
with-reason approach, he answers with silent opposition. The two accompanying shorts from the United States are “Double Talk” (lOmin) and “Croc” (16min). The programme will be screened at University Room Al, Ham, on Tuesday, and the Museum Theatrette, Rolleston Avenue, on Wednesday, both at 7.30 p.m. Membership may be bought at the door, and the public is welcome for a nominal entrance donation.
