S.I. polo men for overseas

A number of South Islanders who played at the recent polo championships in Christchurch are to further their interests in the sport overseas. Geoff Woollcombe and David Cambridge, who competed for Blenheim teams at Ryans Road last weekend, are to play at Windsor in Britain, while Roddy Wood, of Ashley, will go to . Chester.

Cambridge, who has played polo in Britain before, will jdin the stable of a former Rangitikei man, Peter Grace. He expects to stay about four months, and like Wood, will have his air fares paid for him. Cambridge will be in for a busy time, playing four matches a week, and coaching younger riders. Alan Calder, of the Amuri club, will travel in a different direction, to Zimbabwe and Zambia.

His trip, which is scheduled for May and June, has been organised as a result of last year’s tour of New Zealand by the Zimbabwe team, and Calder is likely to renew acquaintances made last season.

The 16-goal New Zealand side will play four three-day tournaments, three in Zim-
