Bread advertisement wins top award
Advertisements for a Christchurch bakery firm have won the top prize in the 1983 I.N.L. newspaper advertisement of the year awards. The advertisements were for lines of Sunshine bread made by Brooklyn Bakeries, Ltd. The series of newspaper advertisements were used during the second half of last year.
The advertisements were made by the Wellington advertising agency, J. Walter Thompson New Zealand, Ltd. The series won the over-all prize, the Chairman’s Award, and the Food, Drink and Tobacco Products Award.
The awards were presented in Auckland on Thursday evening. Advertisements for another Christchurch firm, Hewing Industries, also won g
awards in the automobile, automotive equipment and transport section and the campaign section. The agency winning the Chairman’s Award is invited to send its creative director, or another member of its creative staff, to the 1984 Chicago Art Directors’ Workshop, or similar workshop in Europe. I.N.L. covers all travel, accommodation, and workshop costs. Winners of the category awards are invited to nominate a member of their creative staff to attend the 1984 Caxton Seminar in Australia. One invitation is available for each category. Agricultural and horticultural: Masius, Wellington — Bayer New Zealand, Ltd.
Automobile and automotive equipment and transport: Rialto, Auckland — Todd Motors, Ltd (small space); Atelier,
Auckland — Healing Industries, Ltd (large space and over-all category winner). Food, drink, tobacco products: J. Walter Thompson, Wellington — Brooklyn Bakeries.
Household furnishing, electrical and fuel-driven household equipment, home improvement: Rialto, Auckland — Crown Lynn Potteries, Ltd.
Miscellaneous: Masius, Wellington — Mobil Oil New Zealand, Ltd.
Campaigns: Rialto, Auckland — TNT Courier (small space); Atelier, Auckland — Healing Industries, Ltd (large space and over-all category winner).
Spot colour: Rialto, Wellington — Manawatu Standard, Ltd.
