Race crew in collision
NZPA-AFP London Cambridge was put out of action in an unprecedented accident less than an hour before the 130th boat race
against Oxford University was due to start on Satur-
day (local time). As the Cambridge crew was wanning up, its Ger-man-made boat collided with a barge and snapped
two metres from the bow.
With the boat sinking fast, the Cambridge crew reached the shore shaken but unhurt.
The race was to be held today (N.Z. time), and it is
believed to be the first time it will have been held on a Sunday (local time). Cambridge will use its reserve boat.
