Each of these areas of work is to form a sub-contract to the main contractor. The main contractor is Malnzeal Construction Limited. The site is on the block bounded by Featherston, Stout and Whitmore Streets, adjacent to the existing Stage I building. The new building is approx. 3600 sq metres gross area, 6 storeys high. The mechanical sub-con-tract Includes rooftop boiler room, distribution mains to fan-coll units in new building and to header in old building, extension of chilled water mains from old building to fan-coll units In new buildings, ducted ventilation systems, oil distribution pipework and flues within both buildings for generator sets, gas pipework, split system air conditioner, controls (as a sub-contract to the mechanical sub-contract). The electrical sub-contract Includes the supply and installation of rising mains, lighting and power requirements ranging from plant rooms to general office areas, the supply and Installation of a new main switchboard to serve both the old and new buildings. The fire protection subcontract Includes the supply and installation of an automatic fire alarm system throughout the new building, utilising approved resettable detectors, product of combustion detectors, and photoelectric detectors. Registration for these subcontracts marked accordingly, accompanied by the completed questionnaire, close with the Secretary, District Tenders Board, Ministry of Works and Development, William Clayton Building, 133 Molesworth Street, Private Bag, Wellington, at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 27, 1984.
