Depressed driver
A depressed taxi driver withdrew more than $U526,000 ($39,000) in cash
from his savings account and dumped it on the footpath, but pedestrians helped recover most of the money. George Thomas, in his 40s, told the police he was depressed when he decided to throw his life savings to the wind. The bank’s manager, assisted by two customers, managed to recover all but $6OOO, including some returned by passersby. Thomas was taken to hospital for observation—New York.
