Conditions favour Endless today

Special correspondent New Plymouth Endless would be the surprise package in the 1984 Opunake Cup, the first leg of the T.A.B. double at the Opunake Racing Club's meeting at Hawera today. With the track expected to provide footing on the heavy side the search begins for runners in the field which can handle such conditions. Endless has won on a heavy track in the past and although he has not won for a long time he did recently win a trial event in veryimpressive fashion. With the withdrawal of Caucus and Baycrest the top weight is the five-year-old mare. Star Glow, which has won three of her last four starts. She has also handled the heavy conditions well before.

Kerry Lane is trained on the track and will have the services of the leading jockey David Peake. In the second leg, the Ernie Poole Memorial Handicap, the three-year-old colt Hi Reason is a top chance along with Sea Boy and McWhinney.
