War on smokes
NZPA staff correspondent London An American company is planning to snuff out smoking 1 by launching a £3.5 million (SNZ7.B million) campaign in Britain with nicotine “sweets.” The “Daily Mail” newspaper reported that the giant firm, U.S. Tobacco, is campaigning against smoking f by introducing “tea bag?” of tobacco that can be lodged under the upper lip. Intake of tobacco is then through the blood instead of
directly through the lungs. U.S. Tobacco asserts medical evidence shows no harm to the stomach — and an end to lung danger. The company will use the “virility and health” image of motor racing to introduce to Britain, Italy and France the tobacco sachets which are called skoal bandits. The skoal bandits two-car team of special Porsche 956 s prepared under the direction of the British racing specialist, Guy Edwards, will make their debut on the circuit.
