Injunction denied on dam papers

PA Wellington An application for an interim injunction to stop further publication of material from documents stolen from the Clyde dam site office has failed. The application, filed yesterday afternoon from the office of the Attorney-Gen-eral, Mr McLay, was declined by Mr Justice Savage after a hearing in chambers in the High Court, at Wellington. It sought to stop the “New Zealand Times” newspaper publishing further articles based on informa-

tion obtained from copies of documents stolen from the Clyde dam site office last July. The newspaper’s editor, Mr Bob Fox, said that he, the chief reporter, Mr Alastair Morrison, and a political reporter, Mr Koger Foley, were interviewed by the police yesterday. Last Sunday the “New Zealand Times” printed a series of articles by Messrs Morrison and Foley, who said the paper had obtained copies of the documents stolen from the project files. Mr Fox said that the newspaper had been given an hour’s notice of the application which included as grounds for not allowing further publication, confidentiality, copyright, and the public interest
