Flights return to normal

NZPA-AAP Sydney Qantas flights were returning to normal yesterday afternoon after the return to work by flight attendants who attended a stop-work meeting in the morning. They began to stop work about 5 a.m. to discuss plans by Qantas to extend the maximum tour of duty from 14 to 16 hours, designed specifically for the planned non-stop Los Angeles run. A Qantas spokesman said that no flights were scheduled out until 2.45 p.m. yesterday. About 20 flights world-wide were affected. Flights yesterday bound for New Guinea, New Zealand, Indonesia, Italy, India, and Germany were all delayed and about 3800 passengers inconvenienced.
