Tourism award offer

PA Wellington A new tourism award gives young New Zealanders working in the industry an opportunity to attend a 1 summer course in hotel management at New York’s Cornell University. Established by Wilson Distillers at a cost of 150,000, the award will be presented to someone nominated by hotel management “whose attitudes and actions are judged to have contributed to tourism in the critical area of personal contact” Nominees have to fill out a questionnaire on the licensed accommodation industry, New Zealand history and geography, and general knowledge. Two runners-up will receive merit certificates and a holiday at the New Zealand resort of their choice.

A panel of industry leaders will judge the winner of the award which Wilson Distillers has created to mark its tenth anniversary marketing New Zealand whiskies and to assist the promotion of tourism in New Zealand.
