The practice at the moment caters predominantly for the younger age group. Inquiries are invited from interested medical practitioners for this practice. Twizel is situated 160 km inland from Timaru and Oamaru on S.H.B to Queenstown. At the moment it serves as a construction base for the Upper Waitakl Power Development Scheme with a population of 2500. The practice also incorporates the surrounding rural areas including Mount Cook National Park and Omarama. The town of Twizel will, in the near future, become a permanent town administered by the Mackenzie County Council. Twizel is a self-contained town with all facilities, balanced community including a variety of shops, secondary and primary schools, community halls and indoor dnd outdoor sporting faculties. Water, ski-ing and mountain recreation pursuits are in close proximity. A modem, fully insulated home with garage and separate surgery are provided at a very reasonable rental. The house and surgery will be retained by this Ministry until project completion in about late 1985 when they wUI be taken over by the Mackenzie County Council who will retain them for the medical practice.
