Dry dock at Lyttelton busy
The Lyttelton Harbour Board’s dry-dock facilities continue to be heavily used, with the arrival of the Samuel P. Lee. She replaces the Tui which has occupied the dock for several weeks. The Samuel P. Lee, an American research vessel, was docked early yesterday morning, after suffering damage to her stern during her recent Antarctic trip. It is believed that a piece of ice may have bent the ship’s propeller or rudder. The vessel, which is owned by the United States Government, will also undergo an American Bureau of Shipping survey Small boat forecast Today’s inshore marine forecast from Lyttelton Harbour to the Waimakariri River mouth as received from the Weather Office last evening: Northerly winds, 15 to 20 knots with slight seas and no significant swell.
