Index drops sharply again
The NZUC industrial index lost a further 17.23 points yesterday as share prices continued to tumble on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. The market indicator has lost 97.60 points in the nine trading sessions since the beginning of last week. NZ Forest Products stood out among the falls, losing 15c to 580, and Alex Harvey, Carter Holt, Fletcher Challenge, Wattie and Winstone dropped 5c each. Second-line issues were more prominent in the rises, particularly property companies. Rex Consolidated firmed 5c to 325 in busy trading after news of the merger plans with Cable Price Downer.
