Tax guide for employers
The Inland Revenue Department is sending a guide to all of New Zealand’s 150,000 employers to assist them with the P.A.Y.E. taxdeduction system. The booklet, “P.A.Y.E., Tax Guide For Employers,” is designed to give all employers advice and assistance in most normal circumstances.
Information such as “Who is an employee,” “What tax should be deducted,” “What
forms need to be used," and employers’ obligations is given, as well as illustrations to help employers complete P.A.Y.E. forms. The Assistant District Commissioner (operations) of the Inland Revenue Department in Christchurch, Mr George Gray, said that between 12,000 and 13,000 copies gf the booklet had been sent out in Christchurch. , “It deals with every nor-
mal circumstance, although employers may still need to get in touch with us in certain situations," he said.
He said the’booklet was aimed particularly at new employers, although it would assist existing employers as well, as it contained information on the new tax code.
Mr Gray said the employes’ tax guide was last updated 2% years ago.
