Students need homes
Houses and flats near the University of Canterbury are needed for student accommodation.
A lease arrangement is available to landlords under which the Students’ Association will guarantee rent paid automatically 12 months a year, regular inspections, and bond-hand-ling.
The association’s services officer, Mr Jeremy Bradley, said that offers of private board in the last few weeks had eased the crisis but there were “still several hundred people homeless.” “It is a difficult time for many students who are trying to settle into their studies but are faced with the depressing situation of living from a suitcase on friends’ floors,” he said.
