Military exercise
About 100 Territorial and Regular Force soldiers from throughout New Zealand will gather at Tekapo this week-end for a two-week training camp. Some of those attending will be Territorials fulfilling their annual training requirements and who were unable to attend the annual camp held in January. Soldiers will come from the 3rd (Auckland North) Battalion and the 6th (Hauraki) Battalion of the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment The camp will be
controlled by Major S. N. Pilbrow, of the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps.
.The exercise, known as Exercise Second String, will begin on March 21, beginning at Simons Pass and advancing north to culminate in a live-firing company attack in the Tekapo area.
Those attending will Cractise minor tactics, comined arms, and a combat team exercise designed to allow practice in the attack phase of war.
