Red Shield appeal
The Salvation Army will hold its annual Red Shield Appeal on Monday. Money raised in the house-to-house appeal will be used for the Church’s social services, which include the maintenance of centres for children, alcoholics, homeless persons, the elderly, and emergency accommodation for women
and children. Donations will also help meet the costs of such services as disaster relief, clothing and food parcels, counselling, court and prison visits, and missing persons inquiries. Donations may be left at chemists’ shops and branches of the Bank of New Zealand.
