BEST BETS
FRIDAY AUCKLAND LORD VEGAS (Race 7), ch h. 4 yrs, by Zamazaan—Sea Egg; trained at Takanini by R. Verner. Looks like developing into a better-than-useful stayer. Has won recently at Thames and Avondale, and should not be troubled too much by this field. WANGANUI FLEETRITE (Race 10), b g, 3yrs, by Midshipman—Sally Again; trained at Cambridge by C. S. Hunter. An eight lengths maiden winner three starts back, he was an unlucky second before failing on a wet track on the first night of the meeting on Tuesday. He should not be long improving his score. SATURDAY AUCKLAND GOLD AND WHITE (Race 10), b g, 4 yrs, by Schell Hanover—Roseida; trained at Pukekohe by G. A. Reaks. Promising four-year-old which has won three of his last four starts. Led all the way to beat the three and four-year-olds on the track last time and has the draw to repeat. HORORATA REGAL MATE (Race 8), b h, 4 yrs, by Regal YankeeScotch Sail; trained at Kerrytown by R. J. Brosnan. Looked desperately unlucky when thira to Lisa Rochelle, at Washdyke on February 25. With average luck should be too good for this field. WELLINGTON SOUND SUSIE (Race 2), br f, 2 yrs, by Sound ReasonSusie Hagen; trained at Otaki by A. Koolman. Impressive finisher for sound win on first day. Has 4.5 kg more this time, but capable of bringing off a top-weight’s victory if track is firm. WYNDHAM LORD HILLAS (Race 6), b h, 4 yrs, by Mister Hillas— Queenship; trained at Gore by J. Kelly. Performed creditably in three starts at Addington last month. Promising young pacer which is going places in a hurry. Should prove too classy for this line-up.
