Parking fees up
Christchurch parking meter charges will probably be raised on April 1. New charges had been approved by the City Council in 1982, but price-freeze regulations stopped the rise while labels showing the new fees were being made. Under the changes, the new fee for 30-minute meters will be 10c for 15
minutes, up from the present 5c for 10 minutes.
For 60-minute meters, the fee will be 10c for 15 minutes (5c for 10 minutes).
The fee for 120-minute meters will be 10c for 30 minutes (5c for 20 minutes). The increases were recommended yesterday by the council’s works and traffic committee.
