Stricter detection
PA Wellington Detection laws on imports of illicit drugs would be strengthened if necessary, said the Minister of Police, Mr Couch, yesterday.
Mr Couch also told the Police Association that a recent High Court decision in a case involving alleged drug imports was “clearly unsatisfactory.” The High Court at Auckland last month rejected prosecution evidence in one case, saying that the police and customs officers had acted illegally in detaining defendants for three days in a hotel to examine their bowel motions.
