Antagonist Duke has good draw

Antagonist Duke could capitalise on a good draw and take the major prize in the Mayor’s Cup Final (Cl), the feature race at the Christchurch Greyhound Racing Club’s on-course meeting at Queen Elizabeth II Park this evening. He was far from disgraced when running second behind the smart bitch, Kelly Air, in the heats a fortnight ago, after having to work hard early from an awkward draw. This evening, however, Antagonist Duke is nicely drawn in the coveted No. 1 position, and should take all sorts of beating. Kelly Air and Sir James will be the hardest to beat. Both are very smart, and it would I not surprise to see either go out as the public elect. There was, however, a touch of class in Kelly Air’s heat win, and providing she can overcome her draw, she should prove difficult to hold out

Sir James on the other hand received a good passage throughout after drawing well in the heats, and could be at a disadvantage from his wide draw. Cuddly Carla looks to have real chance in this, and could be at false odds. She made up a large slice of ground when second in Sir James’s heat, and a victory this evening would certainly be rewarding for trainer Jenny Mahiuka, who regularly makes

the trip from Hokitika. Another Runaway was the easiest heat winner, by a stunning 17 lengths, but should find this company a bit richer than the opposition he accounted for last time.
