BIL share buying
Brierley Investments, Ltd, has further raised its holding in New Zealand News, Ltd, to 40 per cent with the purchase of 163,800 shares. The latest purchase, at $5.77 per share, follows acquisition of 350,000 NZ News shares at the same price last week. Brierley’s has had approval from the Examiner of Commercial Practices for some time to raise its stake in the other company to 40 per cent. Brierley’s also announced yesterday that it had completed purchase of a further 3.4 per cent of the capital of Welgas Holdings, Ltd — 95,815 shares at $7.20 per share. The BIL holding in Welgas is now 48 per cent. It also announced purchase of 1,049,000 shares in Neil Holdings, Ltd, at $1.50 per share. This represents 9.5 per cent of issued capital and increases Brierley’s holding in Neil to 44.5 per cent.
