John Le Carre mystery
The first episode of a five-part 8.8. C. serialisation of “A Murder of Quality,” a mystery by John Le Carre, and starring George Cole as George Smiley, can be heard on the radio National programme at 8.45 tonight. Smiley has recently retired - from the “Circus,” the British Secret Service, but is called on by one of his old
colleagues who has just received an unusual letter. It is from the wife of one of the masters at Carne, a famous English boarding school, claiming that her husband is going to kill her. When the woman is later found dead, Smiley has to use all his old intelligence skills to unravel a series of strange incidents at the school.
