Experiments with monkeys
Sir, — A round of applause for the Malaysian Government’s decision to ban the export of Macaque monkeys. If we adopted a more responsible attitude to our health there would be no market for the many so-called cures and artificial remedies foisted upon us by the white-coated researchers. Millions of animals are tortured every year in laboratories around the world in the name of medical science. The genuine physician will tell us that correct diet, sufficient exercise and worth while occupation represent the road to health. The pill bottle panacea is no remedy for the disease of humanity. As for nuclear research, are not Hiroshima and Nagasaki evidence enough of the misuse of science? — Yours etc., ■ CUSHLA FOLEY (Ms.) M 3, 1984.
