Sockburn factory black ban lifted
A black ban was lifted yesterday on Kaban Products, Ltd, at Sockburn after a settlement was reached on a dispute about the alleged dismissal of a worker two weeks ago.
The ban was lifted and four striking workers returned to work after the settlement was reached on Monday with the help of a Christchurch mediator, Mr Maurice Teen.
The four workers, members of the Food Processors’ Union, had been on strike for two weeks after they had claimed that the company had dismissed a worker. The company had denied dismissing the worker and said that she had resigned.
Details of the settlement were not released.
