Blitz on speeding
The Ministry of Transport will run a two-week campaign aimed at catching speeding trucks and buses on arterial routes and main highways. The Christchurch senior traffic officer, Mr I. W. McLauchlan, said that trucks and buses had allegedly been travelling at
lOOkm/h. “We will put extra cars, both marked and plain vehicles, on the roads and will concentrate on the main roads and, large arterial routes,” he said. The campaign will start on March 12 and finish on March 23.
