'Rigorous detention'
The Argentinian President during the Falklands war, Lieutenant-General Leopoldo Galtieri, is in “rigorous preventive detention,” a spokesman for the Supreme Council of Armed forces says. General Galtieri and the two other members of his military junta were arrested last week pending their court martial on charges arising out of the conflict. The charges against them have not been specified, but “rigorous preventive detention” is normally only applied in Argentina to defendants awaiting prosecution on serious charges. — Buenos Aires.
