Russian’s solo cancelled
A* Christchurch Festival
Boris Belkin, the Russian violinist replacing the Labeque Sisters at the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra concert this Saturday evening will now not be giving a solo recital on Sunday evening. Belkin was engaged on Friday as the replacement for the French sisters who cancelled their New Zealand tour because of illness.
The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, who took over the arrangements for Sunday’s solo concert from the Christchurch Festival organisers, decided that there was not enough time to publicise sufficiently the
solo recital, and it has now been cancelled. Boris Belkin will still play with the orchestra for Saturday’s concert. The conductor for the concert will be Doran Salomon. Refunds for tickets to the Labeque Sisters’ solo concert, which was to have been played on March 11, are available from the Arts Centre festival office. Refunds are not available for the Saturday evening concert as the orchestra will still be playing.
