Run finished

PA Dunedin Nine veteran runners, all over 60 years of age, arrived in Dunedin at midday yesterday to complete their 18-day round the South Island run, looking little the worse for their 2200 km run. They were accompanied over the last few kilometres by a group of Dunedin athletes and were welcomed by the Mayor of Dunedin, Mr Cliff Skeggs, and members of the public in the Octagon. The runners and their

support team then attended an informal reception in the Mayor’s office. The team of Dale Fincham, aged 72, Ralph Hughes (67), Jock Harrison (64), Bill Lean (64), Bill Lucas (62), Gordon Mitchell (62), all of Dunedin, Vic Adamson (69) and Matt Bennie (65), of Christchurch, and Bill Temby (62), of Hampden, covered more than 2200 km in 212 hours and raised well over, 112,000 for the New Zeafyhd paraplegic team.
