General forecast:

A complex shallow depression lies to the west of the South Island and a trough of low pressure extends across the South Island. A front over the northern half of the North Island is stationary. Rain and cloud over the North Island, mainly fine in Marlborough, Nelson and Canterbury. Over the remainder of the South Island some showers. District forecasts:

Canterbury: Showers about the western ranges, isolated thunderstorms, otherwise fine apart from some areas of coastal low

cloud and fog this morning; moderate northeasterlies; warm.

Marlborough: Cloud clearing apart from isolated showers about the ranges and Sounds; warm moderate northerlies.

Nelson: Moderate northerlies; fine apart from a few isolated afternoon showers.

Buller: Warm and humid with occasional showers. Moderate northerly winds.

Westland: Cloudy with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms; mild northerlies fresh in exposed places.
