Turbines for Clyde
Sections of several giant water turbines destined for the Clyde power project being unloaded at Lyttelton yesterday.
The sections and associ-
ated equipment for the hydro-power station on the Clutha River arrived from Japan aboard the general cargo vessel the Sea Grace. The turbines came in 21 pieces from the manufacturer, Marubeni Corporation
of Tokyo, and weighed from six to 22 tonnes. The equipment will be taken by road to Clyde. The 14,177-ton Sea Grace will load 23,000 tonnes of West Coast coal before sailing for Japan on Friday.
