Constituted 1913 RICCARTON BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTRICITY TARIFF CHARGES IN ACCORDANCE with the Electrical Supply Regulations 1976 notice is hereby given that the Council has approved the following electricity supply charges which will take effect from April 2, 1984. Normal two-monthly readings will be continued and an apportionment will be made to accounts so as to apply the old charges to March 31 and the new charges thereafter. DOMESTIC SUPPLY Per Unit Rate 1 — Domestic Uncontrolled All uncontrolled units (supply available 24 hours without control) 4.9 c Rate 2— Domestic Controlled All controlled units for water heating or night storage heating (supply subject to control at times of peak load for water heating and subject to fixed hours control for night storage) 4.1 c Rate 3 — Domestic Combined Water and Night Storage Heating All controlled units for water and night storage heating with combined metering 3.9 c Rate 4 - Domestic Night Rate Domestic night rate for water or storage heating. Available between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. only on time clock control. For storage water heating installations of not less than 272 litres (60 gallons) capacity or equivalent. Other storage heating installations subject to approval by the Electrical Engineer 3.9 c NON-DOMESTIC SUPPLY (Commercial and Industrial) Rate 5 — Uncontrolled Commercial and Industrial All uncontrolled units (supply available 24 hours without control) 11.8 c Rate 6 — Controlled Space Heating and Refrigeration All controlled units for space heating or refrigeration (this supply is subject to the Engineer’s approval. Space heating is required to have a 20 per cent storage heating capacity and refrigeration installations a minimum of 200 kVa connected load) 6.5 c Rate 7 — Controlled Water or Night Storage Heating All controlled units for water heating or night storage heating (subject to control at times of peak load) 4.1 c Rate 8 — Non-Domestic Night Rate Available between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. only on time clock control. For storage water heating installations of not less than 272 litres (60 gallons) capacity or equivalent. DEPOSITS In the absence of a satisfactory credit reference the Council may require a cash deposit from a new consumer who is not the owner of the premises which will be as follows— Domestic Consumers deposit $6O Non-domestic A dep. equal to the estimated electricity account for a two month period EXPLANATORY NOTES In carrying out its review of tariffs this year the Council has taken account of requests from the Minister of Energy and the Electrical Supply Authorities Association to:— — adopt recommended tariff forms. — phase out “Intermediate” tariffs. — pass on savings from the new four part bulk tariff for electricity supplied from New Zealand Electricity. — equate tariff rates with the cost of supply to consumers In those tariffs. — reduce the differential between domestic and non-domestlc tariffs. As a move towards the above objectives, the Council has made the following changes to the 1984 Z 85 tariff:— — introduced a domestic combined water and night storage heating tariff (Rate 2). — Introduced domestic and non-domestlc night rate tariffs (Rates 3 and 8). — broadened Rate 6 to include large refrigeration installations. — reduced bulk supply Rate 9 for large consumers by 5 per cent. — amended Rate 10 bakery supply to equate with the new night rate hours. — increased Rate 11, non-profit organisations, and Rate 13, public pools, as a first step towards phasing out these Intermediate tariffs over a three year period. — Increased Rate 14, public lighting, in accordance with the cost of supply formula recommended by the Electrical Supply Authorities Association. — amended the Conditions of Supply to Increase domestic deposits when required from $4O to $6O and to introduce a non-domestic deposit February 29, 1984.
