Good win to Tizzard at Woodford Glen

Brian Tizzard in his A9X Torana completed his first season in the super saloon class with a good win in the saloon-car feature race at Woodford Glen Speedway on Sunday.

The race, was the last of the summer season and Tizzard headed off the rest of the VB-powered cars which started from the back mark, to beat Royce Clive (Chevy Monza) and the four-cylin-der saloon champion, Greg Keegan (Mk I Escort). Keegan, who had set a precedent for the small cars throughout the season by winning four feature races, looked to be in a winning position again, but he was forced to succumb to the power of the VB-powered cars.

Wayne Wilding, who has this season driven a Mustang in the super saloon class, returned to the stock cars and recorded two excellent wins, and was subsequently awarded the Amalgamated Batteries driver of the meeting prize. In the third Mainfreight Transport Demolition Derby there were 56 cars. After 21 minutes the Humber Super Snipes of Peter Townshend and Murray Goodwin emerged as the sole survivors and the referee declared a draw and the 11000 purse shared. Mike Allan headed off his arch rival, Joe Annan, to record the most points throughout the season in the Sportsman class, and Oliver Davies beat Johnny Beachamp in the street stock points series.
