Meeting off PA Masterton
The Wairarapa Racing Club has cancelled its April 11 meeting. The club had planned to race at Otaki, but other clubs objected, saying it was prejudicing their chances of. running profitable meetings. The club’s secretary, Mr Jim Watters, said that problems in renting other courses, and the high fee to obtain temporary totalistor facilities at Tauherenikau, meant the date was doubtful even before recent decisions by the New Zealand Racing Conference and Racing Authority concerning racing in Wairarapa.
The authorities’ decision to suspend industry funds from Wairarapa, Carterton and Masterton clubs until they agree to racing at one course in the region was accompanied by a directive that their race meeting must be held in
