Gammalite wins Cup
NZPA-AAP Adelaide The dual Inter-Dominion ’ winner, Gammalite, won "with consummate ease his third Winfield Cup at Globe Derby Park on Saturday The Victorian milliondollar champion clinched the RO,OOO Cup after tearing away from the star field early in the race. Driven by Brace Clarke, Gammalite began at 4-10 favourite and gave the punters a repeat performance of bis previous two Winfield Cup wins. He won from fellow Victorian, Lobellent (7-1), and rtamninn Western AustraB lack Irish (7-1). Black Irish looked to have had second position sewn up but Lobellent ran on too well. One of the disappointments of the race was the poor performance of the New Zealand pacer, Enterprise. After a good start, the Pat Heffernan-trained New Zealander could not match it wtth the star-studded field an<|pnished seventh.
