Reputation for high-standard cars and service

Since the opening of Patil Chaney Motors at 541 Moorhouse Avenue in August, 1979, the used car sales yard has built up a reputation for high-standard vehicles and service.

“We get a high percentage of repeat business from buyers,” the managing director, Paul Chaney, proudly says.

“A reason for this is that every car is thoroughly checked mechanically, and any defects are repaird before going on display. “We also have a very high standard of presentation of cars. The paintwork is touched up on every vehicle. The intenor of every car is stripped and thoroughly groomed, and the motor is steam cleaned. Every car is also sold with good tyres.

“I have always seen the need to put the vehicles on sale into good condition because the public wants to see a car in Al form — ready to go, without any further repairs required,” Paul Chaney said.

“A minor mechanical fault could make an unusual noise which might put people off purchasing. “Promising to correct minor faults is not good enough, and wont’ convince people to buy it They simply won’t buy vehicles unless they’re already in top condition.

“Every vehicle is sold with a guarantee, and every warranty claim is corrected instantly without any hassle. “We have a good reputation for our relationships with customers, and people do not have to feel embarrassed coming to us with warranty claims or other problems,” he said.

Paul also feels confident about the high standard of the vehicles sold at his two yards, in Moorhouse Avenue and at 12-14 Papanui Road, opposite the Carlton HoteL ? T personally supervise every vehicle that is purchased, and because we are so selective and particular in what we buy, we have to travel large distances throughout the country to maintain our stock of 60 cars,” Paul Chaney said. “We cover the full range of vehicles — from four to six-cylinder, VBs, cars, coupes, station waggons, utilities, light trucks and vans, and all makes and models.

“Usually, we would only carry early model cars if they have abnormally low mileage and are in top-line condition for their age.

“People look at a car and, because it is a late model, assume it to be a better one, but you can get older models with low mileage that are still of above average condition.
