PYNE, GOULD, GUINNESS LTD SPECIAL SEMINAR ON DIRECT DRILLING TECHNOLOGY The Massey Direct Drilling Technology: What we think it does; and what you think it ought to do. March 22, 1984, at Lincoln College This is a special seminar organised by the Massey University Agricultural Machinery Research Centre, which aims to explain exactly what is new in the Massey drill technology: why it has taken so long to appear commercially; what technical problems have had to be overcome; what is special about the inverted T slot in both dry and wet soils; what Is important in fertilizer application in direct drilling; to what extent direct drilling and overdrilling machines are compatible; what is new in competition control in overdrilling; how sophisticated can a drill be, before it becomes uneconomic to operate; how much risk can we stand in direct drilling anyway? The meeting will also explain (with the aid of a video and a sample opener) the latest prototype drill based on the Massey openers and technology, including electronic aids. A major objective is to invite the audience to criticise and contribute to design fetures of yet-to-be-designed drills, as we now pass from the research and development stage into industry and farm use. Numbers attending will definitely be limited on a first-come-first-served basis. There will be no charge. Please post applications to Mr W. R. Ritchie, Agricultural Machinery Research Centre, Massey University, Palmerston North. Further details will be mailed.
