Cricket win for East-Shirley
East-Shirley won its final match in “The Press” twilight cricket tournament at Hospital Corner on Monday evening to win the competition, with an eight-point advantage over the second-placed team, Canterbury Sports Depot. St Albans won the women’s section, six points clear of Sydenham. The Player of the Match awards went to Trevor Flutey (Suburban), Brent Small (High School Old Boys), Rod Latham (Canterbury Sports Depot), Steven Booth (East-Shirley), Steve McCormick (Riccarton), Bob Carter (Sydenham), Pua Tuitaupe (Merivale-Papanui), and Nicki Turner. (Sydenham). The Lion Breweries Player of the Day prizes went to Small and Tuitaupe. The Canterbury Sports personality awards went to Flutey and Debbie Ford (“The Press” invitation). Men:
