Show tickets selling well
Tickets for the Kenny Rogers show at Queen Elizabeth II Park on March 6 are selling well, according to Mr Patrick Connell, the New Zealand manager of Joe Brown Enterprises. Mr Connell would not disclose the number of tickets sold, but said that sales in Christchurch were just behind those of Auckland, “and that did not mean that sales in Auckland were bad.” Kenny Rogers was close to completing a 16-day, 18date sell-out 1 tour of Australia, which included the late scheduling of a second concert in Sydney on March 3 because of his popularity in that city. Mr Connell said that he had convinced the Kenny Rogers organisation that a show in Christchurch would be worth while, and this had been proved by the response to tickets. Joe Brown Enterprises, with Concert Promotions, Ltd, is co-promoting the .Kenny Rogers tour of Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii. Because the American
singing star has his own personal DC9 jet, the New Zealand tour organisers have had to be fluid in setting up a press conference when he arrives in Auckland. It is known that he will arrive in Auckland on March 5, and is expected in Christchurch later the same day.
