Air search scaled down

PA Auckland Searchers in South Auckland yesterday scaled down air efforts in favour of ground parties as the hunt continued for a missing plane with four persons aboard. Four days of intensive air searches between Port Waikato and the Firth of Thames have produced no sign of the Piper Cherokee which went missing on Sunday morning during a flight from Wanganui to Ardmore. The search , operation spokesman, Sergeant Peter Page, said yesterday’s search would be centred on the Tuakau area. Six Army Landrovers and 12 policemen are working in the rough terrain, and farmers have again been asked to search their properties. L Relatives of the missing fliers have been in touch with Wanganui spiritualists to help in the search. Three mystics are known to be working on the plane disappearance and two were yesterday quoted as saying they are certain they know its general location. One mystic,, Mrs Marie Healey, said that when she was supplied with a map on Tuesday she was “immediately drawn” to an area “near Ardmore.”
