Sparrow, Bond lead
The best finishers of the Canterbury golfers in “The Press” women’s invitation tournament last month, Mary Sparrow and Adrienne Bond, will be two of the leading chances in the Russley 36-hole open tournament tomorrow. Mrs Sparrow, who was third behind Debbie Randell (Motueka) and Jan Scandrett (Otago), has already
made an impressive start to the season, winning all three match-play contests in an earlier Canterbury trial on the course. Chris Skinner, who was also unbeaten in the first pennant trial series, Moana Lavery, Sue Boag, Jeannette Ross and Jackie Benschop are other prominent Canterbury players who should feature in the finish.
