Return flight arranged
By
JEFF SCOTT
A flight has been arranged to bring the New Zealanders, Our Mana, Mai Mai, and Tussle, from Melbourne to Auckland tomorrow.
Earlier reports indicated that the horses would be unable to get a return flight to New Zealand after competing at the InterDominion series in Adelaide until March 13.
Colin de Filippi, the Ladbrooks trainer-driver of Our Mana, said yesterday that a flight had been arranged for
the three standardbreds, while Enterprise and Sir Castleton would be staying on in Australia for more racing before returning home.
It was earlier planned to start Our Mana, Mai Mai, and Enterprise in the $40,000 Winfield Cup at Globe Derby Park on Saturday evening, while Sir Castleton and Tussle were both to run in the Australian Trotters’ Championship, which starts in Melbourne tomorrow evening. De Filippi, who returned home after driving Our Mana in to fifth place in the Inter-Dominion Pacers’ Final on Saturday evening, is hopeful the horse will arrive back in Canterbury next Tuesday. He is undecided at this stage whether the horse will be prepared for the Easter Cup at Addington next month.
