Conductor replaced for N.Z. concerts
PA Wellington The American conductor, Lawrence Foster, scheduled to conduct the opening concerts of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s 1984 season, is unable to fulfil his engagements due to contractual problems, the N.Z.S.O. has announced. He will be replaced by the Israeli conductor, Doron Salomon, who was
scheduled to conduct the April concerts and now has extended his tour to include March. Mr Salomon first toured with the N.Z.S.O. in 1982 and will be accompanied bv his wife, the actress, Nitza Saul, making her first visit to New Zealand. Mr Foster’s contractual problems were with his European orchestra, the N.Z.S.O. said.
