Jazz orchestra cancels
The Widespread Jazz Orchestra, the Christchurch Festival’s featured jazz performers, will not appear at the festival. The nine-member orchestra from New York has cancelled its concert on Sunday evening in the Christchurch Town Hall and also its proceeding Australian tour. The band’s management gave problems with the Australian part of thej tour as the reason for non-appearance in
Christchurch. Christchurch Festival organisers say the cancellation will not affect the openair concert on Saturday. A line-up of leading New Zealand jazz performers will take the place of the Americans at the concert. Refunds for the Town Hall performance are available from today at Room T. 12 in the Clock Tower building at the ArtsUpentre, between 12 2
p.m. Refunds will be available until March 6. Tickets must be presented for refunds. Refunds on entertainment card packages for the Widespread Jazz Orchestra concert will be available at the entertainment card rate of J 9. The full price was $11.50. For postal refunds, a selfaddressed envelope and the ticket should be sent to the Christchurch Festival Office, P.O. Box 845, Christchurch.
