Army exercise at Wainui
An Army signals exercise for No. 3 Squadron, Royal New Zealand Corps of Signals, is under way at Wainui on Banks Peninsula.
Twenty-nine Regular Force soldiers were deployed to Wainui on Monday, under the command of Captain C.P. Richardson. They will do high-frequency communications training until tomorrow. They will then be joined by 21 Territorial Force soldiers who
will spend Friday night at Wainui before moving into the hills for two days training in infantry minor tactics. A further phase of the exercise is the construction of fighting pits, weapons handling, moving to and occupying patrols, sentry duties, and challenging procedures. The soldiers will leave the area on Sunday afternoon.
