Name for new library
PA Wellington The new National Library will be named the Keith Holyoake Memorial Library Building, said the Minister of Education, Mr Wellington, yesterday. It was “most appropriate that such a prestigious building has been chosen as a permanent tribute to a man who is universally regarded as the outstanding New Zealand statesman of the century,” said Mr Wellington. He said it was also significant that the Keith Holyoake Memorial Library Building was across the road from Parliament Buildings. The building is due for completion in 1988. The Government is investigating the possibility of accelerating progress. Sir Keith, a former Prime Minister and GovernorGeneral, died in December.
